Start a custom silicone colouring-mat design with a theme, a target user and a production brief. Then check the artwork at its final print size and approve a physical sample before ordering. The ideas below are inspiration, not proof of learning outcomes, age suitability or food-contact safety.
The illustrations show possible themes. They are not presented as documented customer projects or as evidence that every design has been produced or tested. Confirm artwork rights and production suitability for your own order.

How should you choose a design for production?
| Design decision | Include in the buyer brief | Confirm on the sample |
|---|---|---|
| Theme and intended user | Intended activity, language and any product age claim to be assessed | The layout and instructions suit the approved product brief |
| Artwork | Editable artwork, final size and rights to use the design | Fine features and outlines reproduce as agreed |
| Colour and layout | Print colours, background, logo location and colour reference | Colour, contrast, placement and registration |
| Mat and markers | Actual substrate, surface finish and intended marker system | The writing and cleaning result under the agreed use conditions |
| Product claims | Intended market and any child-use or food-contact requirements | Evidence covers the actual mat, decoration, accessories and use |
Do not infer a safe age, food-contact suitability or cleaning performance from a theme or an image. Ask which material, ink and finished-product documents apply to the proposed item.
For artwork preparation and approvals, use the screen-printing production guide. For a print compatibility issue, use the printing troubleshooting guide.

Combinations of the Topics Above

Mazes and Paths
Use original routes between illustrated destinations. Check that paths and boundaries remain readable at the final print size; the theme alone does not establish suitability for a particular age.
Dots and Repeat Patterns

How can AI help with the artwork?
Tools such as Midjourney or ChatGPT can help explore concepts. A generated image is a draft, not a production file, a rights clearance or a tested product design.
Review the output for unwanted text, inconsistent linework, protected characters and details that will not reproduce at the intended size. Prepare editable artwork where needed and submit it for the same print review as a human-drawn design. Check the applicable tool terms and any third-party rights before commercial use.
What should you approve before ordering?
Approve the artwork revision, mat size and version, print position, colours, marker/accessory combination and packaging. Agree which appearance, use and cleaning checks will be performed and record their conditions and acceptance criteria. These are requirements to define, not test results reported in this article.
A material report does not automatically cover printing inks, markers or the complete product. Keep safety and age claims within the actual evidence for the proposed item and market; do not describe every silicone colouring mat as food-safe or suitable for a fixed age band.

Revision note: Removed the year from the evergreen title, distinguished design inspiration from verified production work, and added artwork, sample and product-evidence checks without assigning an unsupported age or safety claim.
